In Q2 08, almost 40% of the shipment of smart phones in the EMEA region had GPS integrated, according to Canalys.

Nokia, with their 71% smart phone market share in the region, says mobile navigation is its fastest growing area. Blackberry and HTC are the runner ups with a market share of approx.7%. But most likely they will be overtaken by Apple in Q3, due to the launch of Iphone 3G in many of the countries in the region.

GPS – enabled mobile phones not only serve the ability to navigate, but also communicate, we have already seen a rapid growth within LBS (location based services) with big players entering the market. According to ABI Research; Location-based mobile Social Networking will generate Global Revenues of $3.3 billion by 2013.

In order to get the best experience when using the myGeolog mobile application, or any other multimedia java applications running on a S60 platform for that matter. You should edit the settings in your application manager from “always ask” to “always allow”.

After doing so, you will not get the questions saying “allow user access” when taking a photo or a video. You will also be able to upload photos from your memory card, and you will have access to your phone book from myGelog mobile application (for SMS sharing of photos).

All inn all, the application will run more smoothly and faster.

Twitter is becoming a very popular microblogging site/tool that more or less gives the answer to one question “ What are you doing?” You create your own network by following friends or people you find interesting, and others can follow you. By following, means that you are subscribing to a persons updates, people subscribing to your updates are your followers. An update or “tweet” if you like, can only be of 140 characters or less. If you got the correct tools, Twitter is really easy to use from the mobile phone. We have made that tool for you by including Twitter to the myGeolog mobile application, all you have to do is to enter your Twitter login details in the application (first time only), and you can start twittering from your mobile.

But hey, why stop there? Most people are familiar with Facebook, no introduction needed. But Facebook has made some changes lately, regarding status updates. A Twitter user will see the resemblance right away. The new status update field from Facebook “What are you doing right now?” are not very different from Twitter. So we decided to include Facebook status update to the myGeolog mobile application as well.

We have of course made our own little twist to it all by including the GPS position to your updates, that is if you have an GPS mobile phone.

Remember to install the myGeolog Facebook application in order to update your status and post mobile photos to Facebook.

Check it out, and tell us what you think.

Nokia keeps on bringing new GPS phones to the market, our objective is to support as many phones as possible. We are happy to include Nokia E71, E90 and E66 to our collection of supported phones.

All phones above are running on a S60 platform, has a built in GPS and you can connect to the Internet via 3G, Edge or Wi-Fi. One great thing about the Symbian S60 platform is that it allows you to run several different applications simultaneously, Apple´s Iphone on the other hand does not permit this feature. So if you are in a need of a mobile that allows you to run java applications like myGeolog, take great photos, GPS and connect to the Internet, these are three excellent choices.

Stay tuned for more updates.

myGeolog has made it easy for you to share your mobile photos on Facebook, Flickr and Twitter. If you are already posting your mobile photos to Facebook using a MMS service, its time to upgrade your methods. MMS services are slow, expensive and less flexible compared to mobile applications which uses data traffic when sending multimedia content. myGeolog mobile application makes it possible to share your mobile content across multiple social sites at the same time, add comments to your photos, geotag and much more. The login procedures are really easy and fast as well, once you have entered your login details, there is no need to do it ever again. You can even distribute your mobile photos via SMS to your phonebook contacts at no additional cost.

When sharing your photos on Facebook, myGeolog automatically create a mobile photo gallery where all your future mobile facebook photos are saved. The photo are also posted to your minifeed with a link to a map showing the location of where it was taken. When sharing on Flickr, your photos are automatically geotaged on your Flickr profile.

How to get started on Facebook:

Our main focus in the near future is the ability to share mobile multimedia content across different social networks. Lots of people are active in several different social networks at the same time, because the different networks serve different purposes. But sometimes you want to be able to share the same content across all of them at the same time. Our primary focuses (as we speak) are twitter and facebook. Our latest version now allows location based photo updates and status updates to twitter from myGeolog mobile application.
